Yayasan Suria JB (YSJB) – A follow-up to the Netherlands Maritime University College.
It was a sleepless night for me after seeing for myself the pathetic conditions of the students at the hostel.
Today (Wed, 29/6), I went around sourcing goodies for the students as promised – much more than yesterday.
300 eggs, 7 dressed chickens, veg, fruits, canned meat, bananas, frozen beans, rice, potato chips, ikan bilis, cereals, etc. See the accompanying photos. Some were sourced FOC while some were purchased.
Also a deal was sealed with a generous donor who will be supplying the 75 students every Thu, starting from 7/7/2022, with 75 packets of cooked food for dinner. As usual, YSJB will be delivering the cooked food.

Anyone around JB who wishes to be a regular donor for cooked food, please let me know and we can work out the details. Or those far away can sponsor the food and we can make arrangements for some poor families/single mothers to cook – a win-win situation for the donors and the people cooking the food.
Our concerns for the underprivileged students touched their hearts judging from their gestures of appreciation, smiling faces and thankfulness which we could ‘feel’ inside us.
We hope the goodies given will spur them on to excel in their studies and also to let them know that someone out there cares!
