Our work is done with PASSION!

Yayasan Suria JB (YSJB) – Our work is done with PASSION!
Yes, without passion, volunteers like us will be burnt out for we are unpaid and for most of the time “unseen” as we walk the road less traveled helping the Poor & Needy, the marginalized, the Homeless and those on the fringes of society. We called them our clients!

What drives us is the passion to serve our clients with L❤️ve & Humility (our Foundation’s motto), at times being labelled by people as “you have nothing better to do, stupid and what are you trying to prove.” Nevertheless, we take all these negative comments in our stride for volunteers like us are here, not to seek recognition, fame or whatever – we are “servants” in the true sense of the word ! To serve humanity. Period.

Occasionally, we received compliments which we acknowledged with humility and which will further spurred us on to reach out to more poor people.

This is from a reader of my diary:
“I am wondering how you can find the time to write out a diary of all the events that were initiated by Yayasan Suria on a case by case basis for the reading benefit of those of us who only stand in admiration of the great work you and your volunteers are doing for the benefit of the poor and needy irrespective of race, religion or orientation.

I can only stand in admiration of you, James, and your volunteers for your sacrifice of time and labour and energy to bring solace and succour to those who can’t help themselves.
May God bless you and all those in your team of volunteers for all your service above self.
🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

Thank you, Madam. Want to know the answer? Here you go!

Our answer is:
When you have the passion, you derived tremendous happiness that money can’t buy, this will give you energy, “internal” energy within you like a spring that will never run dry, you don’t feel tired doing the things you loved like serving the Poor & Needy. That “oomph” is like fuel powering us to go forward every time, any time and anywhere!

Each of my postings take about 2 hours to write, edit and re-edit before the final version goes out. I must admit that my standard of English is not up to the mark as some would expect but I do try my level best to write according to my real life experiences, relevant stories, with the hope that I can inspire others to serve humanity in one’s own way and capacity.
Madam, I hope these explanations will shed some light on how volunteers like us function.

As usual, I leave you with my favourite quote:
“I shall pass this way but once; any good that I can do or any kindness I can show to any human being; let me do it now. Let me not defer nor neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again.”
